Louise Waugh

Partner

Louise first qualified as a Legal Executive before undertaking her studies for a law degree in 2001.  Louise joined the Firm shortly before her admission to the bar in 2005, became an Associate in November 2008 and a Partner in December 2013. Louise practices civil litigation (including recovery, enforcement and insolvency proceedings), estate planning and administration, relationship property, and general practice. She is also the Firm’s Trust Account Partner.

Louise enjoys the holistic nature of client care that a smaller firm like ours provides, together with building long-term client relationships.

When not in the office Louise enjoys spending time relaxing with her family and her rough-coat Collie, Hera.  She enjoys trying new restaurants and recipes, and is often found poring over menus.  She is a part-time volunteer for the charity Dress for Success, and a member of the Auckland Women Lawyers’ Association.

 

Shiraan Dunn

Shiraan was admitted to the bar in 2012 after completing a conjoint LLB/BA at the University of Canterbury. She then moved to Hamilton, where she worked at the District Court as a Registrar and later gaining valuable experience as a Trial Administrator with Almao Douch (then Crown Solicitor’s office). On making a shift to Auckland she commenced practice in civil litigation at Holmden Horrocks.

Shiraan joined the Firm in 2018, was promoted to Senior Associate in 2021, and joined the Partnership in August 2025. Her practice focuses on conveyancing (both residential and commercial), relationship property, and estate planning. She also serves as the Firm’s Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Compliance Officer.

Shiraan brings a warm, empathetic, and client-focused approach to her work. She is committed to delivering clear, practical advice and building strong, trusting relationships with clients.

Outside of work, Shiraan prioritises quality time with her family and staying active at her local BFT studio. She’s also a Disney fan, and enjoys travel – especially to destinations with world-class theme parks.

 

David Griffin

David has been in practice as a solicitor since 1975, and was a Partner of the Firm from 1986 to 2025. David continues to act for his clients in a Consultancy role.

David’s interests in the law include conveyancing, trusts and estate work.

Outside the law, his interests include rugby, cricket and Alfa Romeos. He is a trustee of numerous private trusts as well as having served on the Board of Trustees of Mount Albert Grammar School and as a past president of its Albertians Association.

David is married with three adult children, one of whom has followed her father into the law.

 

Lisa Estie

Registered Legal Executive

Lisa has over 40 years’ experience as a Registered Legal Executive and joined Craig Griffin & Lord in 2017. She has developed a broad practice with particular strengths in conveyancing, leasing, subdivisions, trusts, wills, and enduring powers of attorney. Clients appreciate her practical knowledge, attention to detail, and the reassurance that comes from working with someone who has guided people through property and personal planning matters for decades.

Whether assisting first-home buyers, supporting clients with estate planning, or working through the finer details of complex transactions, Lisa’s goal is always to provide clear, efficient, and reliable service.

Outside of work, Lisa enjoys travelling, crafts, reading, and shopping, and especially values time spent with her grandchildren. 

Emily Hooker

Emily joined the Firm in May 2023 after completing her law degree at AUT in 2020 and being admitted to the bar in 2022. She gained practical experience in the litigation arena and now practises in the areas of civil litigation, insolvency proceedings, and Family Protection Act claims involving charities. Emily regularly appears in both the District Court and High Court and has a growing interest in alternative dispute resolution as a way of achieving efficient and practical outcomes for clients.

Her approach is thorough and client-focused, combining technical skill with a commitment to clear communication. She enjoys working across a wide range of disputes and is developing a strong reputation for her diligence and professionalism.

Away from work, Emily is a true creative. She plays both the guitar and the kalimba—a relatively unknown but beautiful instrument—and has a broad interest in the creative arts. She also enjoys sailing and travelling abroad to visit family.

 

Michelle Gray

Michelle graduated from the University of Auckland with a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Arts in 2023, majoring in Criminology and Employment Relations and Organisation Studies. She was admitted to the bar in May 2024 before joining the Firm in January 2025.

Michelle works on a broad range of matters, including trusts, estates, succession planning and small business commercial work. She also assists with our in-house AML compliance. She has a keen interest in litigation and dispute resolution and is gaining experience in these areas. Michelle enjoys taking on new matters, the challenge of learning something different and giving practical advice that meets the needs of her clients.

Having grown up in Mt Eden, Michelle values being able to help people in her community as well as clients further afield. Outside of work, she enjoys travelling, exploring new places and going on nature walks. 

 

Dylan Walters

Dylan was admitted to the bar in 2025 after completing a LLB at AUT. Before completing his professional studies, Dylan worked as a Law Clerk for Greenwood Law on Waiheke Island and volunteered as an interviewer with the Waiheke branch of the Citizens Advice Bureau.

Dylan joined the Firm in May 2025, and practices in conveyancing, property, and trusts. He brings enthusiasm and a positive attitude and is eager to build his skills while helping clients navigate their legal matters.

When not at work Dylan enjoys watching movies and playing a variety of musical instruments including bass, acoustic, and electric guitar, as well as the drums.
